Co-sponsored by the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and FotoFest
Creating new
audiences across with the world has never been easier and more
affordable. How do you select the best tools? What are the benefits and
shortcomings of blogging, social networks, podcasts and websites?
ASMP President David Kelly and Education Director Susan Carr discuss Copyright issues with attendees
One hundred and twenty-eight photographers, editors, curators and members of the public attended the day-long workshop on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, created for the FotoFest 2010 Biennial by Mary Virginia Swanson and Katrina D'Autremont. Participants learned how
to evaluate, choose and use online tools that are the most
effective for targeting and broadening audiences for artwork.
Coordinators Mary Virginia Swanson and Katrina D'Autremont gave an overview of Marketing Options and Social Media Outlets. In the morning David Bram (FractionMagazine.com) showed how the online magazine is being used as a forum for community dialogue and education. The ASMP Education Director Susan Carr and ASMP President Richard Kelly led ASMP's acclaimed presentation Protecting Copyright in the Digital Environment.
The afternoon featured a panel of gallery, publishing, museum and magazine professionals discussed their creative practice today
as it incorporates new communication and presentation platforms. Mary
Virginia Swanson led a Q and A discussion with participants and
presenters on the changes in the communication industry as well as a
look at what experts think the future is likely to bring in the media
world.
